Christine Byl’s literary voice is a testimony to the simple gratification of physical labor. Inspired by her 10-year commitment as a seasonal trail crew worker in Alaska, Montana, and the Pacific Northwest, she composes narratives that speak to natural history, land use, and issues of gender, class and geography. Currently writing her first memoir, she unites personal experience with systematic processes of working the land and brings us back to our roots in the natural world. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Alaska, Anchorage.
